Birthday come.. Birthday go....

hola..

I started blogging on the internet exactly two years ago on 23rd march 2006... I started by making a hopeless post at day about my birthday ... hard to believe two years have passed... :-) memories made.. hopes broken... experiences gained.. expectations lost... its all like a dream...

Don't I sound old???

Well... One undeniable sign that you are getting old is that your birthdays donn make you feel as happy as they used too... I turned 24 yesterday… and in the last 5 years, dis has been the first Birthday without the guys... Well... Its time to get used to it... Birthdays ahead are gonna be like dis one...

My only consolation... I received some very very beautiful flowers from Dhou in the morning... they made my day… Thanks Dhou.. :-)

A friend(vandhana) of my sister in US(jammy) told me I was more than halfway over the hill..n she went on to explain that ‘over the hill’ was turning 40.. n I was already 24... she said I must feel really old.. n I actually did(do) feel really old...

I have ta tell you about Jo... I love her.. she is my favorite sister... atleast the favorite among equals...n I am ‘almost’ her favourite too (I come close second to Raja!) … I feel really, really comfortable with her... but 8 years and 10,000 miles between us makes it a little less easy you know... for example, while Justin timberlake is(or was or has been) her crush n craze n all, I didn't even know such a person existed until her gagaga about Mr.Timberlake..

Our tastes in music, our tastes in dress, our tastes in food(or fud!) , our accents(!!), wow... - we have to jump n dodge all these balls to get there…. sometimes, she is a perfect teenager... n I am a perfect (:-p) Indian... :-) ... i feel she puts me in an age group slightly below the our dads n moms... She knows that I am not from their generation, but its true am not from her generation either... :-) while showing me her albums, she took so much pain to explain to me about how it’s normal in US that boys and girls hang out together and have fun etc., cos she was afraid I mite get shocked like the Indian oldies do... (I understand da kannama...) But We still love each other so much... :-)

M.S. I know 'we love each other so much.. ' is bad english.. but 'very much' doesn’t sound what I want to express..

My brother Raja boi... I need to write an entire new post for him... I see ‘Me’ in him.. a more perfect, more active, more intelligent, more smart me.... He thinks about stuff the way I do... He thinks about other ppl the way I do... He thinks about me the way I think abt him... I love him so much...

He's de one more critical abt my (our) accents...!! I'll correct myself bro... He's the simple one... No complications what so ever.. Its eazzzy to understand and hangout wid de guy... He makes me feel comfortable even in strangest crowds... he doesn’t let me lone... but again.. there r certain strict TACs - I cant give him a kiss..... I cant show affection to him or hug him in public....and most importantly.... I should never ever hold his hand while we walk... :-) But still.... We love each other more than both of us think we do...

Well, well… where did blog start… and where has it moved? But am glad.. I wrote wht I long wanted to write. abt my lovely bro n sis in US!!

And back about Birthdays…

School days…

Remember how birthdays would be a time of immense expectation, excitement, happiness? It was not Birthday back then… It used to be Birth months and Birth week…

The entire month I would be planning planning planning.. planning what? Planning what dress to wear, what gifts to ask the old ones, what chocolate to distribute( to my ‘best’ friends, ‘friends’ n other classmates) and what special chocolate bars to give to the teachers…

The count down from the first of the month… actually it starts from the birthday date the previous month itself.. :-) (“next month 23rd my Birthday!!!!! Hurrrrayyy!!!) n then the countdown starts the 1st of the month… :-)

Excited about the chance to wear ‘color dress’ to school.. :-) planning what flavour cake to buy.. which friends to invite home.. How to decorate the house… what’s de return gift.. what games to play? Phew…. It used ta be so much fun… rite?

On the birthday – Pulling tags off the new dress, receiving gift boxes.. counting the money grandpa’s n grandma’s had given… opening the gift boxes.. showing off the cool stuff to the other children... Man… I miss those days…

College days….

Well.. The real excitement abt gifts and stuff isn’t really there….( rite?)

;-) the gifs are small but special.. but mostly it’s the feeling and attention you get…

Its more abt an occasion to treat ur favourite girl on this pretext.. cracking jokes, boozing off, etc..!

U never distributed chocolates anymore.. u had to treat your friends whether u liked it or not.. whether u liked them or not…We were ‘grown ups’ Omg.. :-) haahaha…

Now.. The “After-college” days…

Well… Everyone is scattered… and everyone has commitments… so parties are not on ur birthdays anymore but scheduled on a weekend after the actual b’day..

But anyways, u’re b’day itself is not so appealing, cos you’ve stopped ‘growing’ old and u’ve started ‘getting’ old.. :-) gifts are usually only two… shirts and shirts that fit… :-p

Dis is how the ‘many more happy returns of the day’ in future are going to be...

Its other words its become

“Birthday come.. Birthday go…”
